Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM), also known as FFPM, delivers unmatched sealing performance in the harshest environments. These O‑rings offer a broad continuous temperature range of –40 °C to +327 °C, with some intermittent ratings reaching up to +350 °C. Thanks to their fully fluorinated polymer structure, FFKM seals resist over 1,600 – 1,800 aggressive chemicals, including strong acids, solvents, ammonia, plasma environments, and hydrocarbons.
Beyond chemical resilience, FFKM boasts excellent mechanical properties such as low compression set, high elongation at break and consistent sealing force under both static and dynamic conditions. They exhibit low outgassing, making them fit for ultraclean environments like semiconductor fabs and vacuum systems. FFKM grades such as Kalrez®, Chemraz®, and PERFREZ® are used widely in chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, aerospace fuel and hydraulic systems, oil and gas extraction, and nuclear power applications.
Though priced significantly higher than FKM and FEPM, FFKM O‑rings are a prudent investment in critical systems where leakage or seal failure poses serious safety, environmental, or economic risks. They excel in applications involving ultra‑pure media, sterilization cycles, extreme heat, high pressures, and long durations – ensuring equipment longevity, operational uptime, and regulatory compliance.
